Paul joined Simmlands in November of 2011 to underwrite the company’s growing aviation business.

Bringing with him 40 years of experience in the aviation insurance business, Paul has held senior underwriting positions at two major insurers having responsibility for a broad range of aviation risks, as well as holding the position of Vice President at the two largest insurance brokers in Canada. More recently he has been consulting for various clients, including a major insurer, an aircraft manufacturer and serving as a Civil Expert on Aviation Insurance to NATO – Civil Emergency Planning.

Notable achievements include: chairing a committee of major insurers to develop common approach to new regulations, including making representations to the Canadian Transport Commission; acting as a member of the specialized team that responded to the events of 9/11 and associated difficulties in the war risk market; and publishing articles in various trade publications.
